SAUVONS LE BAIN ÉMARD (PISCINE) ! HELP SAVE THE BAIN ÉMARD POOL!

Benoit Dorais, maire de l'arrondissement Sud-ouest de Montréal, ainsi que l’ensemble des élus, veulent remettre les clefs du BAIN ÉMARD – 6071, rue Laurendeau – à la Ville centre sous prétexte qu'ils n'ont plus les moyens de l'entretenir et de l’opérer.

Nous sommes contre cette fermeture. Les jeunes et les aînés se font un plaisir de fréquenter cette piscine pour se tenir en forme. Les écoles y amènent des élèves pour des cours de natation. Parmi l’éventail des activités et cours qu’on y offre, il y a des cours d'aquaforme, une activités accessible à tous, peu importe la condition physique. Ce bain public a été rénové récemment au coût d’environ 3 M $ (2005) et notre communauté tient à continuer d'en profiter. Cet édifice patrimonial est le joyau de notre quartier depuis bientôt cent ans (2014). Le Bain Émard fait donc partie de notre histoire et nous souhaitons qu’il en soit ainsi pour les générations futures.

The Friends of Bain Émard

Benoit Dorais, Mayor of the South-West borough of Montreal, and all elected officials of the borough have announced that by year’s end the historic Bain Émard will close. Mayor Dorais will not be renewing its lease handing over the keys to the city claiming he is unable to continue to operate the Bain Émard due to a lack of funding from the city of Montreal.

We are against the closure of the pool. Children, adults and older adults love and cherish coming to the Bain Émard. It is an integral part of our community, to swim, exercise, maintain good health and attend the numerous courses, lessons, and swim club activities. The Bain Émard, considered a heritage building that will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2014 and was renovated at a cost of almost 3 million dollars in 2005, is a vital part of our community. We wish that the borough keep the Bain Émard open.
