Rob Ford Must Go - Campaign to Impeach Mayor Ford

- sign now
Goal : 5404 / 10000

His campaign was run on falsehoods, smoke and mirrors but the numbers are in and Rob Ford can't balance a budget without cutting services and significantly raising your taxes.

His policies will dismantle all of the very elements that make this city livable. Spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to dismantle bicycle lanes. Telling citizens to use 911 to report graffiti. And voting to cut funding for street festivals, community centres, promoting race relations, elderly person's centres, violence-prevention programs, community-based recreation and other programs. These are the very services that give this city a heart and soul.

Rob Ford is not my mayor. Now let's make it official.

Are you some internet troll? Because it seems that you take great pleasure in posting abuse, hate, and other negative comments. This kind of activity will not get you farther in life. Here is common courtesy rule for you to swallow, "If you have nothing postive to post, or nothing worthy of value to add, Then don't post". Very simple rule in life. It's easy, everyone else in the world knows how to follow that rule.

Here's an example:
I also  cruise the internet time to time, and often see things or petitions that I don't agree with. But I'm not like you who behaves like a troll and post abuse. If I see a site that I don't agree with, I just go on to another site.

At this rate, people aren't going to take you seriously or respect you.

How is this going? It is August 12, 2011 and the last time I checked, Rob Ford is still the mayor!!! How many of you morons donated to this site. You are not going to impeach Ford. Get it through your heads.

This petition needs integrity: Is there a number of signatures required to be taken seriously? To whom is the petition addressed? When will it close? How will our signatures be used? Answers, please. Then I'll sign.

He ran on a platform that attested to there being a 'gravy train' that needed derailing. So far by his own investigation THERE IS NO GRAVY.

He ran on a lie, and he clearly has completely different priorities than the rest of council (re: voting record). He has governed without even so much as a retort to logical arguments against his 'mandate'.

So he's misrepresented the truth about city hall, now that he's there he isn't listening to the truth. He plays fascist politics and defies the presumptions of a working democracy.

Criteria to be a mayor of a democratic, diverse and hugely populace and influential a place as Toronto requires a DEMOCRAT first which supposes that elected representatives have a voice that matters and reflects their wards.

What exactly are you petitioning for?  How are you going to impeach him?  Last time I checked, to impeach means to legally accuse someone of wrongdoing.  That's fine but you don't list what it is.  Has he embezzled or misappropriated funds?  Participated in a conflict of interest?  Will you accuse him of improper conduct while in office?

I'm no fan of the current mayor, but if you want more people to get involved, perhaps you might consider rewording your intent to make it clear.  Say what he's done that's illegal, immoral, then say exactly what you want done and how you want it done.

Jen,

While we don't have the power to impeach Ford, we do have the power to delegitimize Ford 's mandate to cut services while doing little to improve our fiscal situation. Remember what Open Media did to persuade the MPs on parliament hill? Lets make this serious. This really goes beyond partisan politics.

Thanks for starting this.

While I endorse the sentiment, I won't be signing.

There's no mechanism in place to remove the mayor in a similar fashion that the governor (Gray Davis) was recalled in California.

It is going to take constant, ongoing street-level civil disobedience and direct action to attempt to stop Ford and his regressive policies. Petitions like this one won't accomplish anything. Like it or not, this is what democracy looks like.

Someone needs a lesson on how democracy works

You're trying to petition someone out of government?  what a waste of time.  Do you have any examples where this worked before?
